Elizabeth (Liz) Smoczynski, MSW, LCSW

Elizabeth (Liz) Smoczynski is a licensed clinical therapist who received her Master's degree in Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She uses a variety of interventions and methods to tailor the therapy experience to the needs of the client. She has knowledge and experience with various theoretical models, such as DBT, CBT, and motivational interviewing, in order to ensure that clients can create an effective and efficient therapeutic experience. Liz creates a goal orientated, supportive environment for personal growth.
Liz has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. Her past experience began in Iowa City, IA where she worked with survivors of domestic violence and their children as well as created child and youth programming to address educational needs and skill building for local youth that migrated from nearby cities. Liz also worked with adult women at the YWCA in St. Louis where she provided therapy and case management services to empower women to meet their goals of self-sufficiency and positive mental health. Most recently, she has worked with adolescents to address a variety of substance abuse related and mental health needs such as bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety in both the nonprofit and hospital settings by providing individual and group therapy.
Liz is passionate about her work and continues to learn every day through research, attending trainings, etc. She believes in living an overall healthy lifestyle and will create a nonjudgmental safe environment for growth.
